Empirical Macroeconometrics, Forecasting, and Policy Analysis
Bern, Switzerland
The views expressed here are my own and do not necessarily reflect those of the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO).
I am an economist working at the intersection of empirical macroeconometrics, forecasting, and policy analysis, with a particular interest in real-time data, mixed-frequency methods, business-cycle measurement, and nowcasting.
I received my Ph.D. in international and monetary economics from the University of Bern. My work combines applied research, public-sector macroeconomic analysis, and teaching in macroeconomics and time series methods.
Highlights
Current role

I work on short-term macroeconomic analysis for Switzerland, with responsibilities spanning GDP measurement, nowcasting, and business-cycle assessment.

My work appears in journals such as Journal of Applied Econometrics, International Journal of Forecasting, and Journal of International Money and Finance.
Applied impact
Swiss GDP and high-frequency indicators
I contribute to the quarterly production account of Swiss GDP and to indicator-based tools for tracking the Swiss economy in real time.
Research
Real-time macroeconomic measurement
My academic work studies high-frequency indicators, mixed-frequency models, inflation and GDP forecasting, and selected questions in macroeconomic theory and fiscal policy. A recurring focus is how to extract timely signals from noisy macroeconomic data.
Policy Work
Swiss GDP and short-term analysis
I serve as Deputy Head of the Short-Term Economic Analyses Unit at SECO. Since 2016, I have worked on the quarterly production account of Swiss GDP, GDP nowcasting, short-term business-cycle assessment, and related high-frequency indicators.
